Storytelling Festival

Shaersti finally got to be a part of the elementary storytelling festival. She memorized a poem then got up in front of a class and recited it. We also got to see her reflections entry on display and that was fun.

Clouds
If I had a spoon
as tall as the sky
I would scoop up the clouds
that go slip-sliding by.

I would take them right in
and give them to cook
And see if they tasted
as good as they look.

Family Halloween Party

We love our family Halloween party. Grandpa Jim and Grandma Sandra started it in the 60's and it has continued just the way it started, only it has been passed down to my dad. We eat chili and bread sticks, carve our pumpkins, line up the pumpkins outside and clap for each person, then dump out a bucket of treats and take turns choosing prizes from youngest to oldest. It was a super fun night just like it always has been.

Carving pumpkins.
Our cute pumpkin display. I had a better picture but you can see the actual carvings a little better in the darker picture.
Choosing awesome prizes.
One of my sweet treats. Can you believe that ugly thing is pure marshmallow and sugar?

Are you kidding?

On Sunday I was walking into my office when I heard a few loud pops and the ceiling fan crashed onto my desk about 4 feet in front of me. Who ever heard of a ceiling fan falling? Although I haven't replaced it yet and it banged up my desk pretty good, I am so grateful that it fell exactly when it did and that no one was under it.

Primary Program

I really wish it was appropriate to video in church! Shaersti opened the whole primary program with a solo of "Come Follow Me". It was one of the sweetest things I've ever heard! I got to sit right in front of Anne and watch her the whole time and she was so darling! We drove home from deer camp to watch the program and it was worth it! Grandpa has been the primary song leader and grandma wrote the program (is it any wonder that Shaersti had a solo?). They did great!

Deer Camp

Deer hunt was freezing, but fun, this year. We took the kids with us for a few days then left them with grandma for a few days. It's a good thing we took them home cause it got way too cold to have kept them at camp.
This is our niece, Faith. Her dad, Colby, took her on a ride and she slid off the back right into a huge pile of mud. She only cared for about a minute, what a trooper!
Shaersti is all wrapped up and ready to go for a ride. She is imitating a deer.
I wish I could say this is our 4-wheeler. Although we had ours, it would have never made it up the mountain. This is Van's way awesome 700 cc 4-wheeler that we got to use a few times.
This is obviously after we took the kids home. We went to the top of the mountain out of pure craziness trying to hunt down a deer. I know I don't look like a female, but I am on the left then Scott's brother Van, then his nephew Colby.
What cute, manly guys!!!
We passed this frozen pond about 6 times. It was so beautiful! I finally brought myself to take off my gloves and dig out my camera for a picture.
And here we are finally skinning our deer. Oh, wait... I mean Van's deer. After we about froze to death on the mountain for 2 full days, Van and Colby both shot bucks right out of camp. We left camp for 15 minutes and a whole group of deer piled right into the field. Van used his camp chair as a dead rest and Colby ran out from washing his dishes to shoot. Pretty crazy! At least we got to take Van's home so Scott can have his beloved venison jerky!
Al in all... a pretty great weekend.

More Cute Addi

Shaersti loved to go see baby Addi for the first time. While she was holding her she leaned over to me and whispered, "Mom, I think she got my eyes". I'm not much of a baby lover but I have loved snuggling Addi, I haven't seen enough of her.
Have you ever noticed that I always have pictures of grandpa with his grand kids? What a great grandpa!

Addison Emett

Darling little Addison Emett (middle name undecided) was born today, October 19, 2010 at 12:09pm. She was a whopping 8 lbs. 15 oz. and she is absolutely darling. Josh and Michelle are so cute about her and they are doing so good. I was lucky enough to get to spend the morning at the hospital with them, and even to stand in the hall and listen to the whole birth. It was so much fun! I am so excited for them and can't wait for more chances to hold Addi.
While this is a cute picture, it doesn't do her justice because her eyes were half closed. She was hungry and really didn't want to pose. She has such perfect little features and such cute hair!

Scott's Close Shave

Scott was shaving last night and told me he was thinking about shaving his head. He asked me to shave a spot on the back and see what it looked like... so I did. I shaved a little too far up and I freaked out. I went looking for an attachment to the razor so I could blend it, or at least try. While I was looking, Scott went ahead and took the razor right up the side of his head. I freaked out for a second then I laughed my head off while we shaved him bald. His head really needs a tan but I might like him bald. I love guys. I love that they can just shave their hair off and not give a crap what anyone thinks. Kuddos to men!
Hilarious! Need I say more?

Shaersti's First Field Trip

This was Shaersti's first school field trip. Although it took us 2.5 hours to walk to a nearby park and back, Shaersti loved having me there, so I was glad I went. They got to collect things as they walked and eat lunch and play at the park. They thought it was really cool and I was glad my friend Mandy went so I wasn't too bored.

Eating with Paysli

Have you ever tried to eat dinner with a one year old? This is Paysli eating her mashed potatoes. Hey... at least she ate something besides candy!

Ode to Uncle Kolby

My cute brother Kolby (Elder Emett now) entered the MTC this Wednesday to serve a mission in Lima, Peru. He is such a fun uncle and we will really miss him and his hoards of friends. He is also very spiritual and just a straight-up outstanding person. I know he will have an amazing mission and that the people in Peru will love him almost as much as we do. I started a blog for him today that anyone is welcome to visit for any updates, letters and pictures. Although I opened the blog, I have yet to post anything so give me a few days! It's

Family Pictures

Have you ever tried to fit 25 people into a studio photo? I'm not sure what we were thinking! Kolby left on his mission this week and was getting set apart on Monday night. Grandma wanted family pictures before he left so we all went. The boys got so sick of people staring at us as they drove past that they pulled chairs up to the window and waved at everyone. Jeremy was an hour and a half late, which was good, because the studio's camera broke down. All things considered, we ended up with a decent picture. I will try and remember to post it when I get a copy from my mom.
I decided to utilize our boring time there and snap a few pics of my girls. Nothing professional by any means, but they were being cute.

Reflections

For some dumb reason, it sounded fun to enter the reflections contest this year and teach Shaersti how to use my camera. Although everything went wrong and I certainly wasn't happy with the end result, we persevered and entered reflections. These are some of the pictures Shaersti took of her sisters to show that life is much more fun when you share it with someone.

Just Me and My Big Girls

Scott went antelope hunting a few weeks ago (yes... he killed one and brought it home) and I was home bored to death. I got a babysitter for Paysli and took my big girls out to dinner and shopping. We had a great little girls night out and they were such good girls. I love being their mom! The picture of Anne was taken by Shaersti.

Our Little Soccer Player

Shaersti is playing on her first soccer league this year. She claims she is a tom-boy and she has loved soccer. She's pretty sure it's the only sport because most of her uncles play it. She has a darling team, although I don't think we've even come close to winning a game. She is a natural defender and can't stand to chase the ball because it leaves the goal open, although she is a really strong kicker. It's been a riot to watch her play.

What a Runnin' Hunk!

Scott and I have signed up to run the St. George Marathon a few times but we have never actually done it. Scott signed up again this year and I'll be darned- he did it! He hardly trained at all but he busted it out in his garments and his $25 Costco running shoes. He was amazing and I'm so proud of him. His time was 4:54:09. The picture above was at mile 26 and he hardly even looks phased.
This was in Veyo- coming and going.

Cutest Cheerleaders Ever

Desert Hills High School does a one week cheer camp for younger girls. My girls were lucky enough to do it this year (thanks Grandma Jill). They absolutely loved it- and they were so darn cute. They got to perform for all of 2 minutes at a DHHS football game and they thought they were so cool. It was a few weeks ago and they still sing their cheer songs like crazy.
